Key Indicators for Choosing LED Lights

Brand and Appearance: The market is flooded with LED light brands, with significant differences in quality. Well-known brands such as NVC, Philips, Xuelite, Sanxiong Aurora, and Opple are highly regarded, while numerous small factories and brands also exist. To ensure you purchase high-quality LED lights, it is recommended to visit lighting markets or brand-name stores to select products from reputable brands, and pay attention to the following points:

When purchasing LED lights, first focus on the product's appearance and packaging. Reputable brand LED lights should clearly display a "three guarantees" commitment and CCC certification mark on the packaging, and the product labeling should be complete and accurate. Also, carefully check whether the LED light's power cord has the CCC safety certification mark. Furthermore, carefully observe whether any live parts of the light fixture are exposed, and whether the lens or screen is worn, to ensure that the purchased LED light meets standards in terms of appearance and safety.

Brightness and Wattage: When purchasing LED lights, choose based on brightness (i.e., luminous flux) rather than wattage. Luminous flux, a standard for measuring brightness, is measured in lumens. For example, a highly skilled manufacturer might achieve 1,000 lumens with just 10 watts of LED light, while a less skilled manufacturer might require 13 watts.

So, how many lumens of LED light should we choose? This depends on specific needs. Generally speaking:

A desk lamp requires a 60-watt incandescent bulb, producing about 810 lumens, while an LED bulb only needs about 9 watts.

A bedside lamp requires a 40-watt incandescent bulb, producing about 485 lumens, while an LED bulb requires about 7 watts.

A ceiling light might require a 100-watt incandescent bulb or a 23-watt energy-saving bulb, producing about 1520 lumens, but an LED bulb would only need 13 or 15 watts.

Color Temperature Selection
When choosing a light source, we often only focus on brightness, neglecting the important factor of color temperature. However, color temperature is crucial to our lives because it directly affects the comfort and visual experience when using the light source. Different color temperatures of LED lights are needed for different occasions.

Commonly used color temperature ranges include:

700K color temperature is similar to that of ordinary incandescent bulbs. Its light is warm and soft, but slightly less bright. This color temperature is suitable for localized lighting applications such as bedside lamps and wall lamps in bedrooms where a warm atmosphere is desired. 4000K color temperature is considered the closest to natural light. Its light combines warmth and brightness, making it ideal for overall home lighting design. 5500K color temperature, around 500K, is considered cool-toned light. This type of light helps improve concentration and is particularly suitable for office and study environments.

Choosing the appropriate color temperature based on the room's purpose is crucial. Cool-toned light sources are more suitable for studies, living rooms, and kitchens because they create a bright and focused atmosphere, conducive to studying and working. Warm-toned light sources are more suitable for bedrooms, bathrooms, and balconies, providing a warm and comfortable lighting effect.
